How does drinking water really affect your body?

I’m sure we have all been told to drink more water and deep down we know we should, but how much does drinking water actually impact on our body and more importantly our skin and hair?

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and all organs require water to function, therefore our skin needs more than most.

Anti-Ageing

Drinking water helps to increase the moisture content in our skin and maintain the natural elasticity which in turn keeps the wrinkles at bay. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are delayed when the skin has a good level of elasticity still.

In some cases, drinking lots of pure water can do your skin better than some expensive anti-ageing creams. This doesn’t mean skip the moisturiser, this is still an important step in any routine, but ensure you’re drinking plenty of water.

When our skin is dehydrated, it is less resilient and elastic which can make your skin prone to wrinkles and dry skin which will show these wrinkles even more.

Glow All Year Round

Drinking water increases your metabolic rate and improves your digestive system, in turn this helps to flush any toxins out of your body. This will help your blood circulate your body and keep all your organs working efficiently.

This will help to give your skin a natural glow that dehydrated and dull skin will never achieve.

Healthy Hair

We all want glossy, healthy hair and believe it or not drinking water will help you along this journey.

Consuming water supports vitamin consumption and assists in efficient and healthy hair growth. Water makes up ¼ of a hair strand so it is easy to understand why drinking water is going to help achieve those glossy locks.

Dehydration can lead to dry and brittle hair, just like our skin, our hair needs hydrating from the inside as well as out. It can even have an impact on problems like dandruff – drinking enough water can help this.

Water is all around an amazing ingredient that your body needs to function, it has so many positive effects on your body including:

  • Aiding weight loss.
  • Decreases water retention.
  • Keeps your digestive system work effectively.
  • Keeps your muscles healthy.
