Fake Tan Fixes

We’ve all been there, we’ve applied our self-tan, slept in it overnight expecting to wake up a bronzed goddess in the morning. However, how many times upon showering has the colour resembled more of an orange, or your tan looks streaky?

Whilst this may seem like a disaster, fear not – there are some quick fixes that you can do to even out your tan and fix any tanning mishaps.

Baby Oil

Baby oil is great for removing your fake tan that has gone disastrously wrong.

Apply a thin layer of baby oil all over the tanned area and leave this on your skin for half an hour to an hour.

Fake tan works by sticking to your top layer of skin, and baby oil makes this layer a lot softer and easier to scrub off.

Follow up using an exfoliating mitt and watch your tan melt away.

Lemon Juice

You’ve probably already heard about this ‘fake tan hack’, as it has been around for years, but have you tried it?

If you just have a few odd patches that you want to lighten, try using lemon juice to get a slightly more even tan.

The acidic nature of the fruit is perfect for budging those stubborn streaks. For spot treatment, grab a wedge of the fruit and rub it onto the area you wish to lighten.

Wash the juice off after you’re done to make sure it doesn’t end up too light!

Removal Mitt

If you want a solution to use time and time again, it might be worth investing in a tan removal mitt.

These special mitts are designed with a rough surface to scrub off fake tan.

If you’re looking to self-tan quite frequently, this could be a good option for you when it comes to removal.

Tan Eraser Foam

Tan can tend to cling to your skin, some brands more than others, so if you’ve used a tan that just won’t budge a tan eraser may be the only way forward.

Tan eraser foam is an easy way to make sure your tan just melts off your skin.

Simply apply your chosen tan eraser foam and follow the instructions on the bottle for the best results.

These are fairly new on the market so tend to be a little bit more expensive than some of the other home-made remedies.
